Application process

What should I expect once I have applied for an open position?

Each candidate's application will be read and checked against the essential criteria in the Person Specification by the recruitment panel.

Shortlisted candidates will be offered an interview through MyNewTerm by the short-listing date stated on the advert.  The interview letter will provide information on where the interview will take place, the date and time, details of tasks to be completed and who the recruitment panel will consist of.  Candidates will be given sufficient information and time to prepare for any tasks.

It is important that the offer of an interview is accepted through MyNewTerm in order for your application to proceed to the next stage.

You will also be asked to submit a completed a Criminal Declarations form prior to your interview date.

Our Safer Recruitment Policy requires we seek at least two professional references prior to the interview date.  We cannot accept personal or character references. It is courteous to inform your current employer that a reference will be requested.  If you do not give permission for us to request references from your referees, we will not be able to send a reference request via MyNewTerm, and we may not be able to continue with your application.

Unsuccessful candidates will also be notified through MyNewTerm.  If you would like to receive feedback, please contact our school.

What should I bring with me to the interview?

Please bring the following original documents:

  • Valid photographic proof of ID (passport, drivers license)
  • Proof of your Right to Work in the UK (information will be sent with offer of interview letter)
  • Evidence of qualifications or training detailed in your application form and to confirm an essential criteria in the Person Specification for the post.

What should I expect after the interview?

The recruitment panel will explain when a decision will be made at the end of your interview.  This is usually no later than the next working day following your interview.  You will receive a telephone call from a member of the recruitment panel.

If a conditional offer of employment is made - congratulations! We look forward to you joining our team however we ask that you do not hand in your notice for your current employment until all pre-recruitments checks have been successfully completed.  You will be contacted to agree a start date upon successful completion of all pre-recruitment checks.  The conditional offer of employment letter will provide more information about the pre-recruitment checks.

We understand your disappointment if you are not successful and encourage you to request feedback.
