Relationship Education

At Hillborough Infant and Nursery School we have a commitment to ensure that our teaching of Relationships Education (RE) is relevant to all pupils and is taught in a way that is age and stage appropriate. Teaching is delivered within the Early Years Foundation Stage framework and through the broad themes identified within the PHSE and Citizenship framework for Key Stage One.  It is delivered through the school’s teaching of PSHE, Science and throughout other areas of the curriculum where links occur.

Relationships Education is about acquiring information and skills in order to form relationships with family, friends, adults and children; and understanding how relationships may affect health and well-being. The objectives of Relationships Education at Hillborough Infant and Nursery School are:

• To enable our pupils to make responsible, informed and healthy decisions about their lives, both now and in the future.

• To teach our pupils the skills to develop positive relationships, and treating others with kindness, consideration and respect.

• To provide a supportive learning environment in which pupils can develop their feelings of self-worth and confidence, especially in relationship to others.
